I love making radio ads. Starting with an idea, then heading into the studio to bring them to life with talented voices, audio wizards and the perfect music track. I sometimes even jump on the mic and voice them myself. I’ve also done some other, long form stuff with audio. It’s amazing what you can do without pictures (apologies to all the art directors, designers, photographers, illustrators and film directors out there).

P.S. For a few months in 2017, I returned to my student radio roots and wrote all the ads on Auckland’s 95bfm, helping out while they found a permanent replacement for their departing copywriting. I wrote some excellent scripts but, in classic student radio fashion, I seem to have misplaced most of them. But the one below for the Spaced Out segment is my favourite.

SKYCITY Cinemas — now EVENT Cinemas — were by far my favourite radio client. So much so, they get their own special subsection.

Some of the most fun things I’ve recorded never made it out into the world. I think we’re past some kind of statute of limitations so I can share some of them here — even the embarassing ones.
